A Dream Wedding at Devil’s Thumb Ranch: Hair + Makeup by Elwynn + Cass

Martha and Wes got married at Devil’s Thumb Ranch in the Colorado Rockies, and we were there for two days of it. We handled their Colorado wedding hair and makeup across the rehearsal dinner and the wedding day, building looks that fit a setting that’s rustic and high-end at the same time.

Martha’s Vision for Hair and Makeup

Martha knew what she wanted. A soft, natural glow with real staying power. For the rehearsal dinner we went sleek and understated. For the wedding day we leaned into her own features with romantic touches. Two looks, two days, one bride who still looked like herself in both.

She wore a classic low chignon for the ceremony, which kept the focus on her lace gown. Her makeup stayed soft and fresh, a neutral palette with a bit of rosy blush and warm tone that matched the peach and cream in her flowers.

The Bridesmaids

To keep the whole party looking cohesive, we ran a second artist team just for Martha’s bridesmaids. Each one got a look suited to her, soft waves or a simple updo with natural makeup, all of it pulling in the same direction.

They spent the morning in black pajamas, champagne in hand, laughing through the getting-ready hours. Our team made sure everyone felt looked after and ready for the day.

The Wedding Day

The Colorado sun showed up. The ceremony sat right against the Rockies, with a floral archway framing the couple as they said their vows. Martha’s updo and makeup held their own against all that scenery.

As the day rolled into evening, we stayed on for touch-ups so Martha and her bridesmaids looked right from the first look to the last dance. The joy in these photos is real, and we were glad to be part of it.

Looking Back

Working with Martha, her bridesmaids, and the Devil’s Thumb Ranch team was a good few days from start to finish. This is what bespoke beauty actually looks like. Every detail considered, the focus always on the people, not just the look.
