They say the third time’s the charm, and that turned out to be true for Catie and her Palm Springs wedding hair and makeup. She and her fiance Nate were getting married at the Ace Hotel in Palm Springs at the end of March 2019. It wasn’t supposed to be hot yet, but this is the desert, and the weather does what it wants. Before she found Elwynn + Cass, Catie had already done two makeup trials and was starting to worry she’d never find the right fit for her bridal hair and makeup. The third trial was the one, and the rest of her engagement was stress-free.
Desert weather is unpredictable, so you need a makeup artist who can adapt. That means makeup built for heat and dry air, and skin prepped the right way before anything goes on. That was part of what tripped up Catie’s earlier trials, along with the fact that she wanted a natural glow. Not caked on, and not a version of herself she didn’t recognize, which is exactly what she’d gotten before. After talking with her, I had a clear read on her style and matched her with an artist who I knew would land the look on the first try.

One trial was all it took. She was set, and she looked incredible. Her makeup suited the Ace Hotel and the whole desert vibe, so everything felt cohesive.
Her hair and makeup also held up all day and all night. That’s another reason to hire a professional, and why the pricing is worth it. You get what you pay for, and you want you and your girls looking amazing in every photo. Case in point.

P.S. Have you booked your hair and makeup yet? Here’s some advice from a beauty concierge: book your artists at least 6 to 9 months out. Sometimes sooner, since the busy months fill up fast. You want your pick of the best artists, not a last-minute scramble.
Beauty can feel overwhelming, but it doesn’t have to be. We’ve got your back, your front, and everything in between if you need us.
xoxo,
Katelyn
