Wedding Hair and Makeup Packages: 7 Things to Consider

Posted in: Hair and makeup costs

Choosing your wedding hair and makeup is about so much more than finding someone available on your date. The right package helps you feel like yourself, keeps the morning calm and on schedule, and gives you a look that lasts from your first photo to your last dance. We put this together to walk you through the seven things we would look at before booking, so you can compare your options with a lot less guesswork.

Here is the short version. A strong package should tell you what is included, who is being styled, how much time is held for you, whether a trial is part of it, and exactly what happens on the wedding morning. When you compare packages, look past the headline number and look at the whole experience you are actually getting.

1. What services are actually included

Two packages can use the very same words and still mean completely different things. One artist includes hair and makeup together with lashes and a trial. Another lists a low starting price, then adds lashes, touch-ups, and travel on top. Before you compare cost, make sure you are comparing the same thing.

A full bridal package usually covers hairstyling, makeup, skin prep, lashes, veil placement, and a trial. Some packages also style your bridal party, mothers, and flower girls. Others are built for the bride alone and price everyone else as an add-on. As you read, confirm a few things: who is covered and how extra people are priced, whether hair and makeup come together, whether the trial is included, and whether your artist stays for touch-ups or leaves after getting-ready time.

With us there is no minimum and no bundle games. Your bride services are priced on their own, each person in your party is priced on their own, and a package is simply that same math added up into one total with one team and one timeline. A bride on her own is just as welcome as a party of ten. If you want to see how party pricing adds up, our bridal party cost guide breaks it down person by person.

2. How your wedding morning timeline is built

Your beauty schedule shapes the whole morning. Styling takes real time, and a larger group usually needs a second artist or an earlier start. A well built package accounts for how many people are being styled, your ceremony time, your photographer’s schedule, any travel between locations, and a little buffer for the things you cannot plan.

Share your rough timeline as early as you can, even if it is not final. It lets us tell you honestly whether your plan is realistic, especially if you want a first look or getting-ready portraits. A calm schedule leaves room for setup, hair and makeup for your party, your final touch-ups, veil and accessory placement, a few photos before you leave the room, and a buffer for wardrobe, happy tears, or weather. The goal is never to rush your glam. It is a morning where everyone knows where to be and when.

3. The artist’s style and experience

Every artist has a style. Some live in soft and romantic, others in full glam, sleek updos, lived-in texture, or natural skin. Look through real wedding photos, not only studio shots, because a wedding day brings changing light, long hours, hugs, wind, and heat. Work that still looks beautiful in a real venue tells you how it will hold for you.

It is also worth asking whether the team has worked with your hair texture, your skin tone and type, your coverage preference, and anything you are wearing, like extensions, a veil, fresh flowers, or cultural attire. The more specific you are, the easier it is to know it is the right fit. You can see how we work and who we are on our about page and across our services.

How important is a bridal trial?

Very. A trial is the one chance to test your look before the day itself, down to the foundation finish, lip color, curl shape, updo height, and lash style. Even with a clear inspiration photo, a trial shows how that idea actually works on your features and how it feels to wear for hours. A look you love on a screen can depend on extensions, lighting, or a different face shape, and a good artist will help translate it into something that feels like you. Come with clean, prepped hair, wear a top close to your wedding colors, and say so if anything feels too heavy or too formal. That is exactly what the trial is for. We go deeper in our bridal trial guide.

4. Pricing, deposits, and the costs that hide

Budget matters, but the lowest quote is rarely the best value. Prices move with experience, products, travel, team size, and how much time is held for you. Instead of looking only at the total, ask what the price includes and what could be added later. The usual surprises are travel, parking, early start fees, extra artists, overtime, touch-up hours, and extension placement. Before you sign anything, you want to see the total and payment schedule, the deposit and whether it is refundable, the cost per extra person, the travel line, and your deadline for final headcount.

Here is exactly how we price, with nothing held back:

What it costs with us

Southern California and Colorado. The bride is $525, each person in your party is $300, and a single service is $200. A bride-only elopement package, with your artist coming to you, is $650. Your trial is $525.

Northern California, Tahoe, and the Central Coast. The bride is $675, each person is $385, a single service is $285, the elopement package is $795, and the trial is $675.

Add-ons, priced the same for everyone. An additional artist is $350, touch-up coverage is $200 per hour, and extensions are $65. Travel is $1 per mile roundtrip from our closest team hub, and the first 20 miles are always complimentary.

There is no minimum and no early start fee, and you can adjust your services up to 45 days before your wedding. Every line shows on your proposal before you sign anything.

If you are marrying in California, our California cost guide walks through pricing region by region.

5. Location, travel, and setup

Searching “wedding hair and makeup packages near me” helps you find local artists, but location is only part of it. The real question is whether the team comes to you, to your venue, hotel, or getting-ready suite, or whether you have to travel to a salon on the morning of your wedding. Ask what they need to set up, usually a table or counter, good light, outlets, and a little room, because a getting-ready suite fills up fast.

We come to you. Travel is $1 per mile roundtrip with the first 20 miles complimentary, and for a destination wedding we talk through travel and any accommodations early so there are no surprises. If you want to understand how on-location service actually works, we wrote about it in our mobile bridal guide.

6. Products, longevity, and comfort

Your look should photograph beautifully and feel wearable. If you rarely wear makeup, a heavy application can feel like a mask. If your curls fall quickly, your stylist may suggest a prep method or a shape that holds. Tell us the real things, allergies, sensitive or oily skin, humidity, frizz, anything that affects how products wear on you, and we use that to guide the choices. Long-wearing never has to mean uncomfortable. The best wedding glam lasts all day and still looks in the mirror like you.

7. Communication and how they make you feel

A beautiful portfolio matters, and so does how it feels to talk to someone. From your first message, notice whether answers are clear and organized and whether pricing, prep, timeline, and contract terms are easy to get. You are trusting this person with an emotional, time-sensitive part of your day. If you feel confused before you have even booked, that is information. If it feels easy and warm, that is information too.

How to compare packages and choose

Compare on value, fit, and reliability, not price alone. The right choice covers the services you need, fits your timeline, and leaves you confident in the people. Look at what is included so there are no surprise add-ons, whether a trial is offered, whether the team can handle your group and come to you, what the contract says, whether the portfolio matches your vision, and how the communication feels. A package should make your day feel simpler, not more complicated.
