A beautiful fall day in November, Tommy and Liz got married at The Living Desert venue in Rancho Mirage, CA. Before that though, Liz and 8 ladies getting ready with her, got their hair and makeup done at Hotel Paseo. Liz is one of the most fashionable brides I’ve ever worked with and being part of her day was a joy.
Liz wanted to go for a dewy and natural makeup look that was effortless and chic. She wanted her hairstyle to match as well in a sleek and sophisticated updo. After sharing her inspiration photos with me, I selected 2 options of artists that would be perfect for her: one team that lives in Palm Desert and one that lives in LA. Given that she lives in LA, she chose ones that lived in LA to make it convenient for the trial, and then have them travel to Palm Desert / Rancho Mirage for her wedding day.
If a bride wants to do a trial, I typically recommend a bride does it at least 3 months prior to her wedding day, that way she doesn’t feel rushed and have time to make adjustments leading up to the wedding day. Liz decided to do her trial at her home in August (3 months prior to her wedding day) to make sure she checked this aspect off her list and felt at ease as well.
After her trial, Liz had a few adjustments, but nothing too much. I noted the changes and made sure the artists had the notes for the wedding day as well.
Tip: Ask these 6 questions prior to booking a hair and makeup trial
The day of her wedding, given that Liz had 8 party members and herself for hair and/or makeup, I scheduled 3 artists for the services. She had a ready time of 12:30pm, so the beauty timeline I developed for her, started at 8:00am, that way no one had to be up too early. Especially since they had to head over to the venue, The Living Desert in Rancho Mirage by 1:00pm.
Tip: I always plan at least 15-30 minutes of buffer time in the timeline to allow for any given things that may happen (touchups, adjustments, traffic, etc).
My job as a beauty concierge is to make sure that everything runs smoothly leading up to the wedding day and day of, so Liz never had to worry about if everything was getting done. I even sent her prep details a few days beforehand, so everyone was ready the morning of and there were no delays in services starting. The last thing anyone needs to worry about is a delay in services starting, and the only thing that should matter is having a good time.
Everything went smoothly during the beauty process and Liz and Tommy had the time of their lives during their wedding at The Living Desert, which is all I could ask for. Oh and amazing photos too, which they delivered.
