How does working with Elwynn + Cass differ from hiring a hair and makeup artist directly?
We handle everything for you, eliminating the time you’d spend researching and coordinating. Elwynn + Cass is a beauty concierge service, so we take a client focused approach to make sure you have a personalized experience based on what you care about. Factoring in how you envision your hair and makeup, what’s most important to you, your budget, and so forth, we personally match the artists best suited to your needs so you don’t have to go searching on your own.
We also guarantee that in the event an artist cannot do your wedding day due to unforeseen circumstances, we will sub in another artist of equal caliber and pricing that can achieve the look and experience you are wanting. You never have to worry about an artist cancelling on you and having to scramble.
What’s the process like to work with you as a beauty concierge?
After you tell us about your wedding and what you’re looking for in your beauty team and the experience of working with them, we send you curated options of hair and makeup artists that we believe to be a great fit for those needs. After reviewing them, if you choose to move forward, we handle everything from there—including setting up a trial, all correspondence with the artists, handling payment on your behalf, creating a beauty timeline, and most importantly, allowing you to enjoy your engagement without having to worry about the process.
Part of the stress-free experience we give clients during the planning process is helping them manage their total budget for hair and makeup, and we do so by including gratuity on all initial proposals. We believe the last thing you need to worry about is paying anyone on the day of your wedding or having to do math minutes before putting on your dress.
After deciding which artist you want to proceed with, we’ll send you a contract to secure them. A 50% non-refundable deposit is required to book the date and artists and the remainder is due 30 days before the wedding day.
How do you verify your hair and makeup artists?
We carefully vet every artist we work with by having them do a hair and/or makeup trial on us after we’ve thoroughly examined their entire portfolio. We also connect with previous clients and industry professionals about them. That way we can attest to their quality of work, experience level, and professionalism, and ensure we know the experience you’ll have as a client.
Do you have artists that are comfortable with all hair and skin?
Yes, of course. We work with talent that is well-versed in all hair-types and textures and all skin tones and types. That’s something we will discuss further during our initial consultation when we review all of your specific needs and concerns.
Where are you based?
We work with artists all over the country, and with couples from California to New York City and everywhere in between coordinating services for weddings near and far. But we also have clients planning destination weddings outside of the U.S., so no matter where you’ll be tying the knot, we can help find the hair and makeup artists to give you what you need.
Do your concierge services come at an additional cost on top of the hair and makeup artists?
We structure it so that your investment covers everything starting with the moment we propose options for whom you should hire through to the gratuity they’ll receive on the event day, so you get the full-service experience without any surprises.
Do you only help with weddings?
In addition to weddings, we are happy to assist with coordinating your hair and makeup needs for your engagement photos and/or an engagement party. But we also provide our services for all types of events, including corporate events, birthday parties, mitzvahs, vow renewals, and anniversary celebrations.
What about services for men?
We are happy to coordinate makeup, grooming, or hairstyling services for anyone of any gender. There’s nothing like a fresh, hot shave and we’ve got just the right people to take care of that too.
How far in advance should I inquire?
The ideal timing is 7 to 9 months before the wedding date, as artists often get booked on popular dates. However, we only work with the best artists, so don’t hesitate to reach out if your time frame is tighter. We’ll always have someone great available.
How does it work with hair and makeup trials?
We always recommend a trial. Trials allow you to try different styles of hair or makeup and see what works for you on your wedding day. You want to feel completely comfortable that the artists can create the look you are going for and that they put you at ease.
We recommend doing a trial at least 3 months prior to your wedding. This will allow you enough time to decide which direction you want to go in. In the event you wish to proceed with a different artist, you have the time and ability to do so. We will facility any necessary adjustments, be it an additional service, a different artist, or changing your desired style. Any deposits paid will be transferred to the new artist.
