On a warm November day, Tommy and Liz got married at The Living Desert in Rancho Mirage, California. Before any of that, Liz and eight of her girls got their wedding hair and makeup done at Hotel Paseo. Liz is one of the most stylish brides I have ever worked with, and being part of her day was a joy.
Liz wanted dewy, natural makeup that looked easy and chic, with a sleek, polished updo to match. Once she sent me her inspiration photos, I gave her two options for artists, one team based in Palm Desert and one based in LA. Since Liz lives in LA, she went with the LA team so her trial was close to home, then had them travel out to Rancho Mirage for the wedding.
The Hair and Makeup Trial
When a bride wants a trial, I usually tell her to book it at least three months out. That leaves room to make changes without feeling rushed. Liz did hers at home in August, three months before the wedding, so she could check it off her list early and relax.
She had a few small tweaks after the trial, nothing major. I wrote everything down and made sure the artists had those notes for the wedding day.

Wedding Day Ready
With eight party members plus Liz needing hair and makeup, I scheduled three artists. Her ready time was 12:30pm, so the beauty timeline I built for her started at 8:00am. Nobody had to be up before dawn, and everyone was done in time to head to The Living Desert by 1:00pm.
Tip: I always build in 15 to 30 minutes of buffer time for whatever comes up. Touchups, a change of mind, traffic, all of it.
My job as a beauty concierge is to keep everything running so Liz never had to wonder if it was handled. I sent prep details a few days ahead so everyone was ready that morning and services started right on time. A delay in the getting-ready room is the last thing anyone needs. The only job that morning is to have a good time.
The whole beauty process went smoothly, and Liz and Tommy had the time of their lives at The Living Desert. That’s all I could ask for. And the photos came out beautifully too.
