Catie + Nate: A Desert Wedding At Ace Hotel in Palm Springs, CA

There is a saying that the third time is the charm. This happened to be the case for Catie with her wedding hair and makeup for her Palm Springs wedding. She and her fiancee Nate were getting married at the Ace Hotel in Palm Springs at the end of March of 2019. While it wasn’t supposed to be hot quite yet, it is Palm Springs and the weather can be unpredictable in the desert. Prior to reaching out to Elwynn + Cass, Catie had two makeup trials and was getting worried about finding the right fit for her wedding makeup style. Needless to say though, the third trial she had was the winner and the rest of her engagement was stress free.

The desert can be unpredictable when it comes to weather, you have to have a makeup artist who can adapt. You have to have makeup that is suited to hot and dry weather, and be sure to prep the skin appropriately prior to application. That was part of the problem Catie ran into with prior makeup artists, added with the fact that she wanted a natural glow for her makeup look. Not caked on, or not feeling like herself, both of which she got at previous trials. After a consultation with her, I immediately got a sense of her style and set her up with an artist who would nail her look with one try.
When In Doubt, Do A Trial
After that one trial, she was good to go, and looked like the desert goddess she is. Her makeup look also complemented the Ace Hotel for her Palm Springs wedding, so it was a cohesive look/vibe all around.
Plus, her hair and makeup lasted all day and night. Another reason you want to hire a professional and believe me, the pricing is worth it. You get what you pay for after all and you want yourself and your gals to look amazing in photos. Case in point.
