Choosing a hair and makeup artist for an event, especially your wedding day is a big decision. From a beauty concierge, here are 5 green flags to look for when booking hair and makeup artists for your wedding day!
GOOD COMMUNICATION
Good communication, especially from the initial inquiry shows that the artist is timely and organized. Wedding planning can be stressful, so good communication from an artist means they are on top of scheduling, beauty timeline, etc. As a beauty concierge, this instills major confidence in us that the artist is reliable.
When submitting an inquiry, expect a response within 1-2 days. The except would be if you inquire on the weekend, to which, expect a few more days response time, as artists are typically doing weddings on the weekend and are unable to respond as promptly.
SHOWS A RANGE OF SKIN TONES AND HAIRSTYLES ON THEIR WEBSITE / INSTAGRAM
Artists that showcase a wide range of skin tones and hairstyles on their website / IG pages shows they work on their color matching skills and are working on their craft often. This type of artist strives to make every client feel beautiful in their skin and that is exactly the kind of artist you want on your wedding day.
REQUIRES A DEPOSIT + CONTRACT
A major green flag is an artist that requires a deposit and contract. You’d be surprised the number of artists I’ve encountered that don’t require a deposit or contract, which without one doesn’t hold them accountable to being there for your date. Without a contract and deposit, an artist could flake on you for your wedding day and that is the last thing you want to worry about on your wedding day.
HAS A BACKUP PLAN
Life happens and sometimes an artist is unable to perform the services for your wedding day. This could be the fact that they are sick, injured, has a family emergency, etc. An artist that has a backup plan to find a replacement in case this happens is a must. In the event this happens to one of our clients, we always have qualified artists available to fill in. So you are never without on your wedding day!
